A gatefold brochure is similar to a trifold brochure in that it has three panels and two folds where the brochure folds in on itself, but with a gatefold, the right and left panels are half the width of the center panel and they meet in the middle to form a complete picture (usually). Also, because the center panel is larger, it is usually the focus when the brochure is opened, leaving the two side panels for additional information. A DOUBLE gatefold has one additional fold in the middle, so the larger panel becomes two panels and the brochure folds down to half the size of the standard gatefold brochure. The "joined" picture that was on the outside of the standard gatefold brochure is now folded into the inside and is the first thing the recipient sees when they open the brochure.
